Reindex uses state-of-the-art technology to ensure your library is also state-of-the-art. Reindex is created by a very competent development team located at the offices of Index Data in Copenhagen. We have a strong commitment to implement standardized solutions. This means that we can move quite fast when new functionality is to be implemented. Our software and service features:
- No client software to update -- It is a web based service and all functions can be performed using any major browser including: IE 5.x,6.x and 7, Firefox 2.x, Opera 9.x and Safari 2.x
- Flexibility of the product through the use of XHTML and Javascript scripting. DHTML/DOM and AJAX are widely used.
- Secure, modern network communications --All communication is http or SSL.
- Low cost -- because it runs on Debian.
- Uses the best of open source and proprietary software solutions -- deployed databases are Zebra from Index data and Sybase 9.02.
- Uses standards to ensure compatibility -- Search and update of bibliographic records is via Z39.50 and records are stored in MARC compatible formats
- Reindex also supports SRW/SRU and can map SOAP/REST services to SRU to have asynchronous searching in multiple databases. (For example, Amazon is added using this capability).
- Internally MARCXML or MarcXChange is used to store bibliographical records - with UTF-8 encoding to ensure multi-lingual support.
